Laptop Battery

Postby Narendra » Tue Jul 29, 2014 4:08 pm

Hello,
I use Dell Latitude E6400 Laptop and wish to purchase a battery for that.
It uses a 6 cell battery and its about three years old, the power drains out in about two hours.
Does it matter if I purchase a 9 cell battery? I understand they all are at 11.1 V.
Please advise what to look for and suggest some sites.
Thank you.

LinuxJournal has a great article about rebuilding battery packs.
Just in case you're feeling adventurous...

ah, er, is mentioning that magazine equal to using a naughty word?

I'm looking to rebuild a battery pack for an IBM Thinkpad. Even rebuilding
the battery pack will still cost me more than this old laptop is currently worth.

No, but as you're a Linux Journal reader I'm forwarding your IP address to GCHQ for further investigation. ;)

Dear Sherlock,

None of this is helpful for dear Narendra.

Narendra is looking for a battery to run a
LINUX computer, and reads Linux Format.
For sure there are other Dell Latitude E6400
users here.

2 hours? only 3 yrs old? What else is plugged into it?
Seems it ought to do better than that. I checked out
www.cbattery.co.uk/dell-latitude-e6400-battery.html
yes, they are compatable.
