Garage management software

Postby catgate » Mon Oct 21, 2013 5:59 pm

A close neighbour has the local garage in the village, and some few years ago, after using windows for a while, he became interested in Linux. So I put him onto Ubuntu 8.
He has stuck to it since for his home use, but he is still running an old Windows based Garage Management programme for his business on an elderly MS box.
He told me a few days ago that he feared the computer he uses for the business is getting to the end of its career and will need replacement sometime before long..... "Do you know of any Linux based garage management programmes?"
So I have looked....without a lot of success. I found a couple that claim to run on linux through WINE, but I have not found one that will run "straight out of the box".
Can any kind soul please shed some light on this state of affairs?
Many thanks for your anticipated enthusiasm :)
Oh, sod it.

About an hour ago my friend who has the garage spoke to me, and said that he thought he would take the "easy route" and go back to Windows for his "Garage package", since there seems to be a better choice of programmes.
He of course will be using W 7.
Thanks any way.

Hello MartyBartfast.
Thanks for the interest.
From what I saw of that one it looked very much as though it was M$ or Mac
I have emailed them to try to find out, though I suspect my friend has now finally mind up his mind.
In some way I am relieved
