Linux geeks like us and other tech-savvy folks are in a minority. The vast majority just happily click and swipe away. I have just been trying to convince a relatively bright and mathematically-minded friend that user passwords are not sufficient to protect a server from attack. Not much success, he wants the easy answer to be true. I meet a good few who are positively delighted to see targeted ads they can relate to rather than random ads they aren't interested in. Then there are the dumb "Ooh, good, it's in the box at the top, that must mean it's recommended" who presumably have a steady disposable income stream because they genuinely cannot distinguish between "pay-for" and "better". Really, I don't like answering this question, it takes one to such unedifying places.
