Email Rejected [SOLVED]

Postby DavePritchard » Tue Jul 01, 2014 4:31 pm

Using Kmail, on a clean install of Mageia on a different box,
Emails are received all Ok, but sending mail I get the following.

Failed to transport message: the server did not accept the senders address,
"David Pritchard@localhost.localdomain"
the server responded: #5.1.8 Domain of sender address <David Pritchard@
localhost.localdomain> does not exist.

The account is with Tiscali, I cannot remember seeing anything to do with such settings when setting up Kmail, and there appears to be no way of changing them either in Kmail settings,or the Tiscali web-site. also I do not know what the setting should be.
Any help to resolve this problem will be most welcome.

It looks like you've given your name where you should have given the email address. That explains the illegal space character and also the bogus domain, if you five only a username the mailer will add the local systems domain name.

Hi, thanks for the reply,
I did not notice, but my name is automatically put in "from" instead of my Email address, However my name does not appear anywhere in Kmail settings, login = Email address.
Looks like I may need to remove the Email account and recreate it, but not sure if it will do any different, unless a better suggestion is forthcoming.
